Dr. Greenland was born and raised in Rockford, Michigan, where his family operated a family convenience store. As a graduate of Rockford High School, he went onto the University of Detroit Mercy for undergraduate studies in Biochemistry. Before the starting week of dental school, he was diagnosed with Stage IIIA Hodgkin's Lymphoma, followed by treatment at Lemmon-Holton Cancer Center. After a year of chemotherapy and radiation, he was able to successfully achieve remission. Graduating from the University of Detroit Mercy School of Dentistry with great interest in material science and oncology he attended the Advanced Prosthodontics residency, program at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. During residency he focused on advanced dental reconstruction technique and theory, material science, dental oncology, and cleft lip and palate team care. Fellowship followed at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas in their Maxillofacial Prosthodontics & Oral Oncology program.
After graduation Dr. Greenland returned to Grand Rapids, MI to establish his practice focusing on comprehensive dental care including advanced prosthodontics, oral oncology and maxillofacial prosthetics. Dr. Greenland's personal philosophy is there are no clinical check boxes for a patient during consultation, evaluation and diagnosis. Each case is unique to their presenting condition, needs and expectations. His clinical team reviews each case in detail to determine the most appropriate treatment options with their respective treatment phases, material application, and long-term prognosis.
With a personal passion in professional leadership and advocacy for patients, he attends and provides continuing education courses to further his understanding and remain up to date with all topics related to clinical practice. He enjoys authoring articles for multiple journals and attending peer review groups to discuss case treatment. Outside of clinic, Dr. Greenland is an avid photographer. You may cross him while walking on a nature trail, riding bike, or in the river kayaking. Favorite hobbies you may come across in his practice include fountain pens, building computers and cooking.
